HONEY ALMOND SLICE

So umm...baked a honey almond slice this afternoon. First ever almond slice I've ever made. Figured as it's been a while cooking I better fix something up...especially since I want to be an A+ cook. It's good but as I haven't seen other versions of the recipe...not quite sure how I sit on it yet. Then again could have been because I had about 5cm over in tray length. My base obviously needs to be a tad thicker. Had to make more of the almond topping to fill in a bit of spaces. Might try again and also try a few other recipes so I can vote on what ones best and maybe add one in the books as a definite.

INGREDIENTS:

- 65 g Flora spread melted

- ¼ cup brown sugar firmly packed

- ⅔ cup plain flour

- ½ cup almond meal

- 80 g Flora spread

- 2 tbs honey

- 1 cup flaked almonds

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat oven to 170°C.

Grease and line a 25cm slice pan.

In a large bowl, combine 65g melted Flora spread, brown sugar, plain flour and almond meal.

Press into slice pan and bake for 12 minutes until light brown.

Set aside to cool.

Prepare the almond topping by combining the remaining 80g butter and honey in a small saucepan and gently simmer for 3 minutes.

Stir through the flaked almonds and spread the warm topping evenly over the base.

Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool, slice into squares and serve.
